Description

The La Valentina Bellovedere Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Riserva is only produced in exceptional vintages when the weather conditions allow for fully mature grapes. The grapes are all hand harvested and fermentation takes place in conical Slavonian oak vats for 30days. The wine then undergoes malolactic conversion and ageing for 18 months in a combination of barriques, concrete and the same casks where the fermentation took place. After blending, the wine is bottled (in the appropriate phase of the moon), unfiltered and unfined, before resting a further year in bottle prior to its release on the market. Deep ruby red in colour Bellovedere displays complex aromas of dark plum, blackberry and aromatic herbs alongside coffee and cocoa notes. The palate is powerful and rich, yet fresh, leading into a long and clean finish with lovely mineral notes and lingering violet perfume.
